2 Sweet Additions to Your Next Imperfect Box!

Each week, we’re on the hunt for ways to prevent food waste and deliver even more delicious variety to our community. We’re excited to share 2 items that we think you’ll love!

Alter Eco Chocolates

Our friends at Alter Eco came to us with a problem. They had a batch of chocolates that were “short-coded,” industry jargon for the fact that their “best by” date was a few months away. Since stores won’t buy short-coded products, they were going to go to waste, despite the fact that this “best by” date is nothing more than a cautious recommendation and has no bearing on the taste or quality of the chocolates. We’re proud to support Alter Eco, not just because their chocolates are delicious, but because they’re made to the highest possible ethical and environmental standards. We’re really excited to offer their delicious truffles as a sweet addition to your next Imperfect box. They’re a fun indulgence after dinner and come in great flavors like Chocolate Sea Salt and Velvet Dark Chocolate. Chocolate tastes extra delicious when it’s for a good cause!

Sightglass Coffee

Just like you, we start our days with a hot cup of coffee, which got us looking for a way to get you coffee delivered alongside your fresh produce. The result was an inspiring partnership with our friends at Sightglass Coffee. We’ve been sourcing “peaberry” coffee from Colombia that Sightglass roasts specifically for Imperfect customers. What are peaberries? They’re coffee beans that come in a single, small, round seed, instead of the usual flat pair of seeds. Think of them as the unloved runt of the coffee litter. Despite tasting the same, their unconventional size and shape mean that farmers earn very little money from them, as they normally would end up being blended and sold in nameless commodity coffees. We teamed up with Sightglass to highlight these beans, support the farmers that grow them, and help them sell more of their crop. We’re excited to share that more Imperfect customers than ever before can add a pound of Sightglass coffee to their boxes. It’s a great deal, a great way to support hard-working coffee farmers, and also brews a great cup of coffee!

Keep an eye out for both of these when you customize your next box. We are really excited to offer you more fun add-ons like these in the months ahead. If there’s something you’d like in your box, send us a message on Facebook or Instagram. We love hearing from you!

Sweet! (Unintended chocolate pun). Will the coffee come in whole-bean form, or can we get it ground?

We love all puns, unintended or not! To answer your question, it comes whole-bean now, but we’re very curious if folks like you would prefer it pre-ground. We’re looking into testing out some pre-ground coffee and seeing what people think. What type of coffee would you like better, Ronen?

I don’t have a coffee grinder, so pre-ground would be best for me. I’ll stay on the lookout!

Good to know! Were rolling out pre-ground coffee in SF in the weeks ahead and depending on the feedback we get may end up featuring it in other markets too. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I just customized my box, and I’m super disappointed that the chocolate was not on the list… 🙁

Hey Vee! Thanks for letting us know. What metro area do you live in? We don’t have coffee everywhere just yet but are working hard to make it happen.
