Can we talk about New Year’s resolutions? Like you, many of us at Imperfect are planning to eat healthier, cook more, and waste less in 2019. Yet we know that New Year’s resolutions often end up being intimidating, complicated, and more stressful than they are rewarding. Let’s turn this around!

Together, we can show the world that eating and living healthier doesn’t have to be difficult or boring. Together, we can make achieving our goals fun, collaborative, and bite-sized! Together, we can play #FoodWasteBingo until we’re all eating the change we want to see in the world. Here’s how to play and win one of 100 free boxes of produce:

  • Every week in January, we’ll release a new card like this one with fun tips and tricks to live less wastefully

  • For every challenge you do, take a pic and share it on Instagram or Facebook

  • You can also enter by screenshotting that week’s card and sharing it as you complete it on your Instagram story

  • Include #FoodWasteBingo @imperfectproduce in the caption

  • Tag a friend to nominate them to play

  • The more challenges you complete, the more chances you have to win*!

This year, we hope you’ll join us in making big changes in our lives by going small. Because together, we can show the world that New Year’s resolutions can be positive, contagious, and the building blocks of a better food system.

Here’s to a more delicious and healthier 2019, for you and our planet!

*We will announce our 100 winners at the end of the month. To win a box of Imperfect Produce, you must live in one of our delivery zones.

      Hey Jacquelyn,
Don’t worry. You haven’t missed anything. We’ll announce our winners to the contest at the end of the month. For now, please share your bingo progress on your Instagram or Facebook, since each picture of a square being checked off counts as one entry. The more squares you complete throughout the month, the more chances you have to win!

I do not understand the rules completly…
Is this the first BINGO card?
Where are we supposed to share the pictures?
Some of the BINGO squares do not make themselves clear, how do I get more clarity?
For example, "shop your fridge before the store" does not make clear exactly how I am supposed to take a picture of that. Does that work in concert with other squares such as "make a shopping list" and "make it at home"? Am I supposed to post pictures of my available ingredients, my shopping list, my recipe and the meal produced to prove I shopped my fridge first?
Another example, "make a not-sad lunch" is defined as what exactly? My interpretation of a "not-sad lunch" might be different than what is expected. Is it supposed to be simply a healthy lunch or is it supposed to be gourmet?
And the square that says "store food in Stasher bags" makes me wonder if you are simply using Stasher Bags as an example of environmentally friendly food storage options (such as Tupperware, or glass storagage containers) or if the brand name Stasher Bags must be used to complete this square? I own Tupperware, and have for many years, so I am not excited about going out and buying a new product when my Tupperware has served me well and has a lifetime warranty on it.

    Please advise

      Hey Katherine!

Thanks for letting us know that you have some follow up questions about this contest. We’re happy to help you out! To answer your questions, in order:
      – Yes, the picture above is the first card. We’ll be sharing it on our Instagram, Facebook, and Instagram stories today as well.
      – Please share your pictures on your Instagram, Instagram stories, or Facebook page. Each picture counts as an entry.
      – We’re happy to answer any and all of your questions about this challenge. You can leave any follow up questions on this blog post and we’ll share answers to help you and others out.
      – This is a great question. Any of your proposed ideas below would count! for exmple, if you took a picture of your fridge, a recipe from a cookbook that used what you had around, or a picture of a finished dish that you made with veggies you had around, all 3 would qualify. You’re also right that some pictures would qualify as 2 entries. Posting a picture of a homemade dish that utilized fridge ingredients next to a shopping list would cross off three squares in one picture. Bravo! We’re not super strict about how you play, we’re just hoping that you’ll play along and have some fun with us.
      – Whatever type of lunch brings you joy counts as a "not-sad" lunch in our book. The "sad-lunch"is only meant to encourage you to enjoy a nutritious lunch that makes you happy with other people. This lunch in question doesn’t have to be the healthiest, the fanciest, or the most visually impressive, it just has to be a lunch that lifts you up and makes you happy.
      – For the Stasher square, you’re welcome to use the Stasher brand (we’re big fans of what they’re doing), but you can really use any form of reusable, sustainble food storage gear. As with the above questions, we’re not picky about how you play, we just want you to get involved, tell your friends, and have lots of fun.

Thanks for these thoughtful questions. If you have any more, please leave them as a comment on this blog so we can help you out. We hope you love week 1 of Food Waste Bingo!

Please clarify WHERE you want these pictures posted? Facebook? Instagram? Twitter? Pinterest?
I also need clarification on how to capture some of these suggestions like Shop your fridge. I do that all the time like tonight in making a red lentil soup with sweet potato. That dish would fill at least 2 bingo squares

      Hey Bean,
Please share your bingo adventures on Instagram, Instagram stories, or Facebook. To answer your second question, you’re absolutely correct. If you take a picture of your "fridge-shopped" lentil soup and share it on Instagram and Facebook, you will have already completed 2 squares! Thanks for playing.

Good question! We share the cards each week to give you fresh inspiration, but you can honestly complete a square at any time, really. All you need to do to have your entry be counted is use the HT #foodwastebingo and tag us. Our top priority is that folks participate however they can!

Thanks for answering my previous questions. I actually posted my food waste bingo game on Facebook, but wasn’t clear if I am supposed to do it all in one post or in individual posts.

Also, it seems I have not received any more bingo cards since the Dec 27 game card. Have you sent any out?

      Hey Katherine,

You’re welcome. You can share them in multiple posts or in single posts. You get an entry into the free box drawing for each post you share, so more posts are in your best interest.
We share the bingo cards each Wednesday on our Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter feeds. We also share them in our weekly newsletter to our customers. Let us know if you need help finding them!
