Our mission to eliminate food waste and build a better food system for everyone has always meant finding creative ways to source food that otherwise might have fallen through the cracks. Lately, this mission has taken on a new importance. We’ve heard truly tragic stories about farmers forced to dump perfectly good food going to waste because of the economic disruptions caused by COVID-19. When we saw the type of strain that our food system had been put under, we knew we could help. 

Since our company was quite literally built around the challenge of finding better outcomes for food, our agile and flexible way of sourcing has let us find and share the silver linings in this period of upheaval. We’ve been working around the clock to connect with producers and suppliers affected by the recent upheaval.⁣ The good news is that these efforts are already bearing fruit! 

For example, when a major airline couldn’t purchase an order of 40,000 cheese and cracker trays due to the downturn in business caused by COVID-19, we stepped in to help the producer and prevent waste.
